Linda Nowell
Office Manager and Bookkeeper

Linda joined LDE in 1990 and works at the center of the firm as our office manager and bookkeeper.

Linda manages the day-to-day operations of the office to ensure that everything runs smoothly. She manages general office administration, financial accounting, and serves as our receptionist. She received an associate’s degree in applied science and accounting from Johnston Community College.

A lifelong resident of Johnston County, Linda enjoys spending time with family, reading, gardening, and traveling.

Jennifer Gudac
Paralegal

Jennifer coordinates communication between various parties in legal cases and assists our attorneys in obtaining benefits for injured workers. A North Carolina Certified Paralegal, she has worked with LDE for the past five years.

Jennifer joined LDE to become more directly involved in helping injured workers.

Jennifer holds a diploma in paralegal science.

Outside of the office, Jennifer spends her time with her family and is involved with the Pine Level F.W.B. Church and a community Bible study with more than 300 other women and children. Her favorite hobbies include taking road trips to study architecture of old homes, playing the piano and organizing interior spaces.

April Barefoot
Paralegal

April currently works with our criminal law legal team.  She is responsible for drafting documents including correspondence, motions, reviewing and analyzing discovery, and working directly with our clients daily.

April graduated from East Carolina University in 2002 with a degree in Criminal Justice and enjoys spending time with her family outside of work.

Belinda Hickman
Legal Assistant

Belinda currently works with our civil litigation team. She is responsible for drafting documents including correspondence, reviewing and analyzing discovery, legal research and communicating directly with our clients daily.

When Belinda is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and traveling.

Amy Morris
Legal Assistant

Amy joined LDE in 2002. She supports our attorneys in criminal law proceedings. Her day-to-day activities include drafting correspondences, complaints and motions, performing legal research and working directly with clients.

In addition, she assists our clients with seeing their case through to completion including file preparation, legal document filings and obtaining updated information from the court house.

Angela Price
Legal Assistant

Angela Price joined Lucas, Denning & Ellerbe in 2015 as a legal assistant.  She assists our attorneys and paralegals with pre-litigation activities for personal injury cases.

Angela grew up in Four Oaks, and has been a lifelong resident of Johnston County.

Kathryn Hooks
Legal Assistant

Kathryn is responsible for correspondence and overseeing and organizing medical records in the workers’ compensation department.  She attended NCSU and enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and traveling.

Lydia Strickland
Legal Assistant and Secretary

Lydia Strickland joined the firm more than 29 years ago and currently assists our personal injury legal team as a legal assistant and secretary.

You’ll meet Lydia if you seek our personal injury legal services. Lydia meets with new personal injury clients, communicates with insurance adjusters daily and handles the personal injury settlements and/or disbursements.

Growing up outside of Kenly, N.C., Lydia is a lifelong resident of Johnston County who, prior to joining our firm, she worked with a law firm in Raleigh for 12 years.  Outside the office, she can be found enjoying one of her many hobbies including shopping, doing yard work or relaxing at Topsail Island. She enjoys spending time with her family, grandson and soon-to-be granddaughter

Marianne Beamer
Legal Assistant

Marianne Beamer has been with Lucas, Denning & Ellerbe since January 2013 working as a legal assistant in the pre-litigation department.  She handles medical payment claims, orders medical records and itemized statements, communicates with clients directly, and navigates health insurance liens.

Marianne is pursuing her Associates Degree in Paralegal Technology from Johnston Community College and will graduate in December 2016.  She is in the National Technical Honor Society.  Prior to working in the legal field, Marianne worked in the insurance industry in property & casualty and life and health insurance.

Marianne moved to North Carolina from Texas.  When not working, she is spending time with her family and their three rescued dogs.  Marianne loves baking and traveling.  She swims laps regularly and participates in yoga and fitness classes at the gym.  Lastly, she loves muscle and exotic cars…a hobby she shares with her two boys.

Debra Underhill
Litigation Paralegal

As a litigation paralegal, Debra assists our attorneys by monitoring cases, preparing and filing court documents and scheduling cases as they enter litigation.

Debra received her Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her associate’s degree in paralegal technology from Johnston Community College.  She has been in the paralegal field for over 20 years.

She is a lifelong resident of Johnston County who enjoys reading, trips to the beach and spending time with her four legged children, Bo and Brie.

Yadira Aguilar
Bilingual Legal Assistant

Yadira works as the firm’s bilingual legal assistant and helps to serve our Spanish-speaking clients. She currently works primarily with our workers’ compensation team.

Yadira was born in Mexico but has spent the majority of her life living in Johnston County. She enjoys reading, traveling, doing yard work and playing with her son, 2 pit bulls and 3 cats.
